For this project, we were tasked with selecting a theme that we felt was missing from the history of traditional graphic design, choosing ten related articles, and designing a book that would showcase our findings. Drawing on my cultural heritage, I chose to focus on the theme of Chinese and Chinese character typography. What drew me to this subject was the realization that the rich tradition and wisdom of Chinese character typography has not been adequately incorporated into contemporary design practice. I discovered that the logic of current computer software is based on the Latin character system, which has led to a neglect of the Chinese typographic system in design education. With this in mind, my book aims to bridge this gap by exploring the history of Chinese typography and reconstructing local Chinese typographic thinking within a modern design context. Through extensive research and careful curation of articles, I have sought to highlight the unique beauty and complexity of Chinese typography, while also considering its contemporary relevance and potential. The design of the book itself reflects the essence of the subject matter, with a clean and minimalist layout that allows the typography to shine. Through thoughtful consideration of color, composition, and font choice, I have strived to create a visually striking and cohesive book that showcases the intricacy and significance of Chinese typography. Overall, this project has been a labor of love, and I have invested countless hours in researching, designing, and editing this book. This endeavor was not merely about aesthetics; it was a chance to encapsulate the very essence of medical design – a field known for its precision, innovation, and life-enhancing potential. To achieve this, I opted for a color palette that spoke volumes. The blend of soothing blues and invigorating greens was deliberate. These colors not only symbolize the calming nature of healthcare but also represent the growth, vitality, and progress within the field of medical design. For an added layer of depth, I employed a gradient effect. This visual technique subtly communicated the inherent flexibility and adaptability that are intrinsic to medical design. Just as healthcare continually evolves to meet new challenges, the design has to evolve seamlessly. To ensure that the design not only impressed but also informed, I judiciously chose sans-serif fonts. These fonts, with their timeless elegance, not only bestowed a sense of grandeur upon the visual identity but also guaranteed ease of reading. After all, a conference dedicated to medical design ought to provide accessible knowledge. The resulting visual concept harmoniously combined sophistication and accessibility, setting the stage for a captivating and informative conference experience. I found it fascinating how we can see the folds in the skin through the "tiger's mouth," but when we release our hand, the folds disappear again. "Chubby" is a feminist font project inspired by the beautiful folds of the human body. It challenges societal norms and embraces a soft, rounded aesthetic as a powerful symbol of beauty. Crafted with care, each imperfect letter rebels against oppressive standards, celebrating the resilience and diversity of the female form. In a world imposing body anxiety, "Chubby" encourages girls to reject unrealistic ideals. Its playful design defies tradition, promoting the empowering notion that chubby and frilly are not just cute but bold. This font embodies feminism by rejecting conformity and championing authenticity. As the creator of "Chubby," I combined technical skill with a commitment to dismantling oppressive norms. It's a labor of love, inviting others to join the feminist journey of self-love and acceptance. "Chubby" is a call to redefine beauty. I share this font to inspire a feminist revolution where individuals embrace their bodies, free from societal judgments. Let it symbolize defiance, challenging the status quo and advocating for a world where the beauty of every unique fold is acknowledged and celebrated.My design reflects this playful and dynamic quality, which I felt was both childlike and sophisticated at the same time.
